500 Backers and Announcing The SOCIAL STRETCH GOAL: "Let's play this game together"

We are enthusiastic to announce that we've passed through the 500 Backers' gate and we've even got past 40K€ !!! This is an important milestone of our project and we would like to thank you all for your participation and for the continued support you provided through the campaign!!

Announcing The SOCIAL STRETCH GOAL

After listening to Your voices and providing the Upgrade packs, we've been now looking for a way to have some more fun, so let's play this game together!

We've prepared for you a small but very very nice social stretch goal, that we can unlock in 2 steps. We are sure you will love this SG... we will unveil it as soon as the first step is completed, by now we can only say that it'll be an "iconic item" of Fief; an item that every person moving his army first onto the battlefield should hold in his right hand. And if you look carefully at this update you can try and guess what it will be... let us know in the comments if you think you know what that is ;)

Social Stretch Goal: Step 1

To complete the first step of our campaign towards the Social Stretch Goal we need to get 50 likes on this BGG image. So if you have a Boardgamegeek account just click on the image and give it a thumb on BGG.

This is an easy step for our army, isn't it? We hare already a group of 500 soldiers ready for battle, and we just need to bring the image to 50 likes!! :)

Once we give this image 50 likes, we'll unveil what the "iconic item" of Fief is; and it'll be simple to get it at that point.

Oyez ! Oyez ! Oyez !

Plus de 500 vous êtes ! Nous vous voyons, petite armée qui nous accompagne et dont les rangs ne cessent de gonfler d'heure en heure. A cette allure, vous avez même franchi le seuil des 40K€ avant le crépuscule. C'est une étape importante alors que nous entamons déjà la deuxième semaine de campagne et pour célébrer ce passage des 40K€, nous souhaitons vous proposer un petit jeu.

Un palier particulier

Nous vous avons entendu et les mises à jour vous ont été proposées. Allons un pas plus loin dans la communion.

Nous avons préparé un palier, qui n'était pas prévu, et que vous pourrez nous aider à atteindre en deux étapes. Vous devriez l'aimer vraiment beaucoup, même s'il s'agit de quelque chose d'assez modeste. Ce palier sera révélé dès que la première étape aura été réalisée. Un indice se trouve dans ce texte pour les plus curieux d'entre vous. Alors ne passez pas votre tour, il ne s'agit pas d'un stratagème, et faites nous part de vos hypothèses en commentaire de cette nouvelle !

Etape  1

Pour réaliser la première étape, il faut cumuler 50 "j'aime" sur l'image suivante qui été publiée sur le site de référence américain Board Game Geek. Si vous avez un compte BGG, vous n'avez qu'à cliquer sur l'image ci-dessous puis cliquer sur le bouton "j'aime" (à coté du logo ASYNCRON) pour que votre vote soit comptabilisé (si vous n'avez pas de compte, vous pouvez en créer un, c'est gratuit).

Pensez-vous être à la hauteur, petite armée ?

Nous le savons, il y aura des pertes. Certains ne franchiront pas la langue de Shakespeare, d'autres se perdront en chemin, d'autres encore n'auront pas l'équipement adéquat.

Mais nous avons confiance en vous. Il suffit que 50 flèches atteignent la cible ! Une fois cette étape réalisée, le palier sera révélé et nous sommes convaincus que nous le franchirons dans l'intervalle d'un battement de coeur.

Social Stretch Goal achieved: The "f" First Player Token is in your hand!

Noble Backers,

We were confident we could reach 43K€ in a very short time from the moment we unveiled the iconic "f" First Player Token, and here we are already!

We acted quickly and now we'll be the first to move our units through the battlefield: our opponents shall be terrified!!

The "f" First Player Token is yours now. As some of you noted on the comments section, the token resembles a sword: will you use it to attack or to improve your defenses? To make, or to break deals? In the end, it's your choice, and we are sure you'll use its power wisely! 

The "f" First Player Token will be included in any of the following rewards: The Painted Miniatures Box, The Unpainted Miniatures Box, The Fief France Board Game, The Baron/Comte/Duc Packs.

We will soon announce our 4th Stretch Goal, so watch out for our next letter.

Vous ne nous avez pas déçu. Vous avez décoché vos flèches avec ferveur et 135 ont touché la cible. Notre présence trône maintenant comme une icône sur la première page du site BGG. Espérons que cela puisse nous aider à rallier d'autres seigneurs qui se trouvent en ces lointaines contrées.

Puis la charge finale est arrivée et vous avez franchi le palier comme si de rien était. En récompense, nous vous délivrons un artefact qui vous permettra de reconnaitre rapidement le premier d'entre vous à jouer.

Nous avons encore du pain sur la planche, mais la mise en forme du prochain palier avance.

We've just completed the first step of our campaign towards unlocking our Social Stretch goal. We are thus now revealing what that is...

2nd Step

Noble Backers rejoice! Here we present you the FIEF's Iconic "First Player Token": a "f" plastic token to be used to signal who is the current first player!! Please note the design is still a work in progress.

We will unlock the "f" First Player Token as our 3rd SG, once we get to 43.000€ - Victory is in front of us. We are confident to reach 43K in a very short time, and we must thank you Noble Backers!

(Please note that the token design is still Work in Progress)

Will you use it to attack or to improve your defenses? To make, or to break deals? Being the first player isn't necessarily always better, thus make sure to use its power wisely ;)

Onward we go towards receiving this amazing reward as we unlock the 3rd Stretch Goal!!

FIEF est un jeu chaotique. Ce que je veux dire, c'est que si vous avez la guigne et que la peste frappe, vous pouvez y laisser tous vos seigneurs. Bon, d'accord, le joueur malin aura mutualisé ce risque en positionnant ses seigneurs sur différents évêchés mais tout de même... Quand le destin décide pour vous, une partie de FIEF peut s'avérer douloureuse. D'un autre côté, j'ai rarement vu un vainqueur à FIEF qui n'avait que la chance pour tout mérite. FIEF est un jeu où il est nécessaire de prendre son destin en main et d'orienter l'histoire en sa faveur. N'est-ce pas finalement cela, le travail d'un game designer ? Créer des outils au service de la destinée des joueurs ?

FIEF est en rupture depuis de nombreux mois en France et il devient vraiment nécessaire de le réimprimer. FIEF est un jeu particulièrement immersif et notre travail d'édition s'est constamment porté en ce sens. Cela ne m'avait jamais frappé avant qu'un je-ne-sais-quoi le déclenche, mais un jour j'ai réalisé que le seul élément "abstrait" du jeu était le plateau. Ce pays, cette région n'existe pas. Alors tant qu'à réimprimer FIEF, autant en profiter pour parachever l'œuvre de Philippe avec un nouveau plateau : France !

Tous les souscripteurs de la précédente campagne ont eu droit en échange de leur soutien à un pack de 5 extensions thématiques. L'une d'elle l'extension Tactique, ajoute des unités telles que des Archers, des Bombardes, des Gardes royaux et des Mercenaires. Je ne peux pas imaginer jouer à FIEF sans depuis : du moins les 3 premiers types d'unité. Pourquoi ? Car le ratio entre la quantité de nouvelles règles à retenir et la profondeur tactique que cela donne à FIEF, est excellent.

L'effet de ces unités ont évolué afin de réduire la part de hasard et augmenter la part de contrôle. Destin quand tu nous tiens ! Pour l'Archer, il n'y a pas de modification de son effet, nous en ajoutons simplement un quatrième. Une armée peut donc ainsi voir sa constante passer de +2f à +3f (ce qui garantit l'élimination d'une unité de chevaliers). L'effet de la Bombarde change et il n'y en a plus qu'une : au lieu de relancer un dé de combat, la Bombarde permet de lancer un dé de plus contre un Château ou une Cité fortifiée. Elle coûte 4 écus. Dernière modification qui concerne la Garde royale : chaque unité ajoute +1f à la somme des dés, le Roi peut transformer 2 Chevaliers en 2 Chevaliers royaux et la Reine, 2 Sergents en 2 Sergents royaux.

Toutes ces unités seront incluses dans la nouvelle édition FIEF France et elles viendront prendre la place des reliques. Ces dernières seront éditées à nouveau en tant que mini extension ou bien dans la nouvelle édition des extensions thématiques, possiblement l'année prochaine.

Les Kits de mise à jour

Beaucoup d'entre-vous nous avez demandé s'il y avait un moyen de compléter votre édition avec ces nouvelles unités. Il a fallu un peu de temps pour y réfléchir afin de proposer quelque chose qui nous semble juste. 2 kits sont proposés selon ce que vous possédez déjà :

*** Le Kit de mise à jour ExtThem FIEF France ***

(Pour ceux qui ont le Pack Extensions Thématiques)

Une planche de pions avec :

• 6x Archers (1 unité par joueur),
• 1x Ancelin - Le Stratège, avec la bonne illustration.

Ce Kit sera proposé à 3€ comme élément additionnel dans le gestionnaire de souscription mais il sera offert si votre montant de souscription est de 50€ ou plus à l'issue de la campagne ou du gestionnaire de souscription.

*** Le Kit de mise à jour FIEF France ***  

(Pour ceux qui n'ont pas le Pack Extensions Thématiques)

Une planche de pions avec :

• 24x Archers (4 unités par joueur),
• 6x Bombardes (1 unité par joueur),
• 2x Chevaliers du Roi,
• 2x Sergents de la Reine. 

Ce Kit sera proposé à 10€ comme élément additionnel dans le gestionnaire de souscription mais il sera offert si votre montant de souscription est de 90€ ou plus à l'issue de la campagne ou du gestionnaire de souscription. 

Une fois la campagne terminée, nous vous enverrons un questionnaire pour savoir si vous possédez ou non le Pack Extensions Thématiques.

Announcing the UPGRADE KITS and a Publishing Note: Each game of FIEF is a Story!

FIEF is a chaotic game. I mean, if you get really unlucky, you may lose all your Lords when the plague strucks. Then if you get smarter, you may prevent such a catastrophe, and reduce the risk, by moving your Lords on different Bishoprics... Indeed. But when fate decides for you, a game of FIEF can be a heavy burden to bear. On the other hand, I've never seen anyone win a game out of luck alone. I might say that each game of FIEF is a story whose fate you must control. In the end, isn't one of game design's tasks, to create tools to help players guide their fate in the game?

FIEF needs to be reprinted because the game has been sold out for months in France. We all known that FIEF is a highly immersive game. All the publishing work is made to bring this immersion to the players and one day, you know what? I realized that the only abstract component was the game board! So, Philippe, my team and I have begun to develop the new France game board. It was obvious that this new game board would be the spearhead of the new FIEF France edition.

The previous KS campaign offered the Thematics Expansion Pack which includes 5 expansions. One of them, the Tactical Expansion, adds several units: Archers, Bombards, Royal Guards and Mercenaries. I can't imagine playing FIEF without them now. At least not without the first three unit types. Why? Because the ratio between the quantity of added rules and the increase in tactical capabilities is excellent.

By the way, some effects of these units have been now modified to mitigate luck and improve control. The Archers's effect is the same, but we've added one unit (4 archers instead 3). This means that you may now have a constant +3f in an army instead of +2f. The bombard's effect has been changed: instead of letting you reroll one die in battle, it now lets you ignore one defensive Fortification's malus. Once again, we reduced luck in favour of control: only one bombard per player, of cost 4. As last modification, the Royal Guards: each RG brings +1f, and their distribution changes. There are now 2 Knights for the King, 2 Men at Arms for the Queen. This means that if the King has planned ahead, he may have a constant +2f in his army plus full Cavalcade capability, while the Queen has +2f.

All these units will be included in the new FIEF France edition, while the Relics will be removed because they really are an expansion, and we also need space. The Relics will be publish again alone or part of the new Thematics Expansion Pack which will be released, if all goes well, next year.

Announcing the FIEF Upgrade Kits

Lots of you have been asking us for a way to have the 36 units to complete your previous edition of FIEF. We thought about it and we are now proud to announce that we've made it a reality!! The Upgrade Kits will be available in the Pledge Manager in 2 versions, as follows:

*** KS FIEF France Upgrade Kit ***

(For those who have the FIEF KS 2015 Edition or have bought the Thematic Expansion Pack)

It will include a punch board totalling:

• 6x Archers (one per player),
• 1x Ancelin - the Strategist, with the appropriate illustration.

This Upgrade Kit will be available as an Add-on in the Pledge Manager for 3€.

But we went one step forward… Hear Ye, Hear Ye!! This Upgrade Kit will be included FOR FREE to anyone who pledge at least 50€ during the KS campaign or in the Pledge Manager!!!

 *** Full FIEF France Upgrade Kit ***  

(For those who have the FIEF 2015 Edition without the Thematic Expansion Pack)

It will include a punch board totalling:

• 24x Archers (4 per player),
• 6x Bombards (1 per player),
• 2x Royal King Knights,
• 2x Royal Queen Men at Arms. 

This Upgrade Kit will be available as an Add-on in the Pledge Manager for 10€.

But we went one step forward… Hear Ye, Hear Ye!! This Upgrade Kit will be included FOR FREE to anyone who pledge at least 90€ during the KS campaign or in the Pledge Manager!!!

Once the campaign ends, we will send you a form to ask you which edition of Fief you already own, thus which free upgrade pack you need.
